These knit lanterns were previously featured in the Artist of the Moment program at Georgi & Willow, in San Anselmo, CA.
Knitted with bamboo circular needles, the recycled wire has mainly been sourced from Goodwill of San Francisco. My favorite material to work with is the black AC/DC adapter wire, but I started with copper and aluminium speaker wire. Both have intriguing characteristics that set them apart, and reminiscent of luminescent nests
Perfect for ambient lighting or alone as a sculpture.
My participation in the Artist of the moment program has contributed to the diversion of 40 million tons of waste, that otherwise would have occupied landfills in the San Francisco Bay area.
